Furniture people and material people kept being two different worlds. We thought that was worth fixing — and the simplest way to fix it was to start a company that did both, well, from the same desk.

Our story

One desk, one ledger, two sides of the same trade.

Kestane was founded in Oakland in late 2025 to take the friction out of furnishing a room and building a room at the same time. Most of our clients were doing both anyway. Now they only have to make one phone call.

2025

The first quote

Kestane Limited is incorporated in California. First order: a set of dining chairs for a remodel in the Oakland Hills. Same week, we sourced the stone for the kitchen.

2025

The catalog takes shape

Direct relationships open with mills in Oregon, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, plus three California workshops. Catalog grows from 200 SKUs to 1,200 in three months.

2026

First cross-country job

A complete furniture + material package ships from Oakland to a custom build in upstate New York. Crated, labeled, scheduled. One invoice.

Today

3,500 SKUs and counting

Catalog now covers seating, tables, casegoods, bedroom, lumber, hardware, stone and finishes — all selected to the same standard. Projects in 17 states. Trade program opens Q4.

Kestane was founded on a single observation: the people who furnish a room and the people who build a room were too often working from two completely different industries, with two completely different lead times, two completely different invoices.

Bringing both sides of that trade under one roof — and keeping the standards high enough that designers, contractors and homeowners could specify us without a second thought — is the entire reason the company exists.

Six standards, no exceptions.

A short list of rules we hold ourselves to, on every order, regardless of size.

Direct sourcing, always

If we sell it, we've either visited the maker, talked to the foreman, or worked the material ourselves. No white-label reselling. No mystery supply chains.

Itemized quotes, every time

Every number on a quote has a name next to it. No mystery adders, no surprise freight, no "consultation" fees appearing at the bottom of the page.

24-hour quote turnaround

On standard items, you'll have a real number in your inbox by the next business morning. On custom work, three to five days — never longer, never "we'll get back to you."

Materials we use ourselves

Every product in the catalog is something we've installed, sat on, or hammered into place. If we wouldn't put it in our own home, we won't put it in yours.

One desk, one phone number, one email. From the first call to the last crate on the truck, you're working with the same person. No transferring, no call center.

Honest lead times

If a piece is in stock, we ship it today. If it's made to order, we tell you exactly how long. If a delay happens, you hear about it from us — not from a tracking page.

The studio

A small team. Deep bench.

Most of us came from the trades — we were framers, finish carpenters, upholsterers, and stone fabricators before we were suppliers. We still pick up the phone on weekends.

Sourcing & Operations

Five direct mill relationships, two import channels, and a freight broker on speed dial. If it's in the catalog, one of us can tell you exactly where it came from.

Workshop Liaison

Three upholsterers, two finish carpenters, one stone fabricator on contract. They do the building. We do the paperwork.

T&C

Trade & Client Services

Net-30 accounts, sample loans, spec sheets, the on-site visit when you really need a second set of eyes. The phone is always answered during business hours.
